Picture perfect ...weather ~

“Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.” —Thich Nhat Hanh

I came across this quote a few days ago and for some inane  reason it filled me with such joy and energy , that is so raring to get unleashed , i wanted to bottle it up and spray it on me every single day....
These lines , in all their entirety describe to the hilt what i feel in that moment when i open my eyes each morning and the dream carries on ....
Somebody told me a few days ago , that to put it simply.....just focus on living your dream without searching for reasons ...the why's and the hows ...and that is exactly what i have been doing . I live , breathe, eat , sleep and dream photography....because i have realized that it gives shape to all the words and emotions and feelings that roar inside me like cumulus clouds and overwhelm the very marrow of me if i cannot express them . You see , they are not the point ....neither are the images....they are the portal to this feeling that sweeps over you , when you are doing what you love....when you are living your dream .

I read read read about images and styles and concepts and dreams late into the night and scribble endless thoughts and ideas and sensations each one evokes within me, in my note pad [ blackberries and apps are just not for me...sigh ]....i realize the more i shoot and talk to people....their comfort level is directly proportional to mine and gets reflected in my choice of subjects and subject matters....

Of course life goes on, all around you .....what needs to be done , has to be done and i cannot plan a life based on whimsical notions that i lose touch with reality or all that is tangible . As a woman , without even meaning to , you focus more on what is required from you vis a vis what you require yourself....but in this thin line of tangibles and intangibles ....i get to dream and play and transcend somewhere into this territory which is all my own ....however metaphorical and profound in the hope that somewhere some time it will translate into what the world at large considers tangible .
So its 6 in the morning and i have just come back from a slow walk with my camera , just soaking ...absorbing my delhi warming its hands, huddled around fires on this cold december day ....and thats what i want to share with you all on picture perfect this week , when its all about WEATHER............

    1. thanks anders...but i am not sure if pity is the right word....

  3. I love the still and silent beauty of the first shot. But as always, your people shots are really what catch the eye. You always capture so much character, telling stories without words.

  5. the first shot captures peace and the mystical part of the day, just lovely....
But there is no escaping your gift of taking shots of people..... it gets better all the time, your reading and studying fuel you and you create magic.....
and as consumed as you are by photography, your writing never fails to complete it all....

  7. Hi Sonny, I'm back again. You asked recently how you could join in the 'Picture This' photographic group. If you still want to join, you will need to send me the e-mail address you use for your Blogger account. Send it to: picturethistng@gmail.com. I will then send you an invite e-mail that will contain a link that sets you up as a contributor.

  8. I love the feeling of the first pic, evokes such a dream-like quality to it. The pictures of the men intrigue me the most, especially the last one. Even though there are 5 men, there are three that make up a triangle of sorts, jockeying for my attention. Each one so different and individual, great shots Sonny!

  9. Great pics, Sonny! You are very lucky to have cooperative subjects. People pics here in North America are becoming trickier to capture as folks get more and more camera shy. The only time I miss my press credentials is when I see a great pic but have to fore-go shooting it for fear of adverse reaction from the subject. I could do "stealth photography" but that always seems a bit dishonest to me. Sigh.

  11. Hey Sonny - enjoyed reading and love the photos - as always. I love how water reflects the day but only when all is at peace. Makes me think of the mind and how it distorts the reality of it's environment and can only reflect clearly in it's stillness. The Photos of the men are all wonderful and I love how the eyes look to us who look back - challenging and in some inviting! I love how charcter is expressed through the eyes and how in each person thier individual personas shine forth. I know you probably do not know but I wondered if the two at the front, of the last photo, are father and son or brothers perhaps. Love your photography and how it takes us places beyond the subjects.

  12. Hello darling, yes I is back. Absolutely love your mystical photo. It is perfect.
The people ones are so clear and colourful. I couldn't help noticing one of the men was wearing make-up. LOL
