Picture perfect ------ contrast ~

We are so made that we can derive intense enjoyment from a contrast and very little from a state of things....so said Freud. I for one subscribe to this theory wholeheartedly....as a photographer , one is always chasing light....some thing subtle in the background....to bring out the intensity of what we want to portray in the forefront.
Life....is such an amazing potpourri of contrasting emotions....almost always...that fine balance that is so sought after, is never really achieved. Life as a whole is forever divided between the big picture and its smaller moments...in constant conflict .

I have included here 3 photographs, which are my personal favorites ...some of you from multiply, may have already seen these on my blog there ....What appeals to me in these is that if one looks carefully , endless contrasts can be drawn here....ranging from colour , and depth of field and textures and even emotions in a single frame.......

  2. beautiful all three without even looking at the contrasts! The eyes to me are the essence of these photos all around them just express their eyes - kinda weird thing to say perhaps but this I sense from these photos. Witht the midde one did you ask them t pose as they are or was that candid? The bottom one is my favourite - love your words too!
Thanks for your comment on mine too'

  3. thank you keith...i too am mostly drawn to eyes and body language...a contrast happening in the frame is always a bonus...who doesn't want their picture to tell a story....i always ask for permission...but i never ask them to pose...even in the middle picture i asked if i could shoot...not the fakir..he was too spaced out...[ grin ] but no , i didnt ask them to pose...i was clicking furiously because there was a throng of people walking between me and them ...:)

  5. Sonny, your photos portray the contrasts found in daily life better than anyone I know. Yes, I've already said it recently, but it is true.....every one of your photos in not just a picture, it tells a story.

  6. So much to see! I love the top one ... sadness and confidence in one photo.
The middle one is like a painting ... great depth.
The last one spoke to my heart. This gentleman just sitting there, resigned to the life he has ... it touched my heart.

Thanks for visiting my entry :)

  13. Hey Babe! Were you cheating or what? LOL I thought we were only allowed one photo? Not that I mind because your photos are stunning. Contrast is for sure.

I like them all but the bottom one really talks to me. It is almost saying, "This it IT, nothing left." So sad!

  16. Contrast gives things their true meaning . . . . but what we all seek is variation / change between contrasting shades. We can't enjoy pleasure for long just as we can't bear constant pain. It's the pain that gives p,erasure it's true meaning
